Firms spend enormous amounts on technologies to protect themselves from cybercriminals. Jargon and acronyms abound, such as encryption, firewalls, and antivirus software, but these measures fail repeatedly. One weak link is simultaneously outside the scope of these technologies and also renders them useless: us! Most cybercriminals can find ways around the technologies by taking advantage of human failings. The growing field of “behavioral security” has so far examined what leads users to reveal their passwords, and is working to find useful methods of prevention. Join us Thursday, September 13th when our speaker will discuss behavioral security, reviewing some of the impacts of large, recent breaches; how some of the largest breaches were accomplished; and how every user can help prevent future breaches.
