AN AUTUMN FIRELIT REVEL IN ALLEGHENY COMMONS

Inspired by historic Autumn carnival traditions, the inaugural Pittsburgh FireWalk will be a Saturday evening, public celebration.  Our array of fires will be carefully tended with talented performers, local storytellers, and street vendors of food, drink, and art.  (Not to mention, the ever-watchful presence of Pittsburgh Fire Department safety officers.)

In homage to the retired steel mills and iron furnaces of the region, three custom cauldrons will be positioned through Allegheny Commons in a magnificent new Public Art installation.  The cauldrons have been designed and will be forged by skilled metal-craft artisans in collaboration with our creative partners at Rivers of Steel.

Each fireside will offer acoustic performances of story, song, and dance, co-hosted by dynamic local performers.  At the heart of Allegheny Commons, our central Hearth will feature a night-time bazaar with vendors representing the best of local arts, culture, food and drink.
In this atmosphere, audiences will be transported by the sensory experiences of light, sound, and movement. Long-time residents, curious students, local business owners, community organizations, and travelers of all types are invited to meet each other in the streets and celebrate the mythical thrill of an Autumn night by firelight.
